Stewardship Focus Day
August 28, 2009
9am-4pm
Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Oklahoma City
Sponsored by the Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation and the Board of Laity

Breakout Session Descriptions:
Session 1: The Easy and Effective Annual Stewardship Campaign with Rev. David Wiggs
How would you like to grow your church’s giving? In this breakout session, learn the details of Rev. Wiggs’s annual stewardship campaign, which is easy to execute and has tremendous positive results. Wiggs has been using this style of annual campaign for the last ten years in his current appointment, Enid First United Methodist Church.

Session 2: Faith and Money in Small Membership Churches: Inspiring People to Give with Dr. Trevor Smith
Does your church have all of the money you need for ministry? Are your members inspired to give one-tenth of their income? Learn how you can inspire your congregation to be generous givers. In this breakout session, join in a discussion about the steps to starting and improving your church’s stewardship campaign. Dr. Smith has done extensive research on stewardship in the small church and currently serves as pastor of Waurika and Temple United Methodist Churches.

Session 3: My Church Doesn’t Talk About Money with Rev. David Bell
Most people and churches never seem to have enough money, yet money continues to be a feared subject with many pastors and church leaders. In this breakout session, you will learn the important connection between faith and money, practical tips to address the hyper-consumerism culture, how to point your congregation toward being a community of generosity and how to cultivate financial discipleship among all generations in the church.
